On this Lübeck Haus Bookstore catalogue page are listed books on the North American fur trade period of history and activities.
One of the major areas of the North American fur trade was the Great Lakes region. The large open waters of the five large lakes provided a very large and easily traveled way
to travel for the fur traders, fur trappers, hunters, explorers, military personel, settlers, and anyone else living in the area.
Near the center of canoe travel from Lake Superior (Kitchi Gami) to Southern Lake Michigan was the trading fort, Fort Michilimackinac ( Fort Mackinaw ), on the western shore of the Northern tip of the lower part of Michigan.
Fort Michilimackinac was also the trading fort for trading travel from Lake Huron to Lake Onterio. Then later Fort Machinaw on Mackinaw Island was the main trading fort as well as a miitary fort.
These books will deal mainly with this region of fur trade area.
Book subjects include Fort Mackinaw, Fort Michilimackinac, Mackinaw Island, Hudson Bay Company history, Chippewa Indians, Kitchi Gami, Made Beaver, birch bark canoes, wilderness survival books, trading forts, fur traders, french-canadians, Chippewa customs,
fur trade routes, Mackinaw coats and trade blankets, flintknapping, and Palaeolithic studies.
These books present this information in a clearly written manner usually accompanied with excellent photographic work.
